Canadian Permanent Residents

Individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada permanently must qualify as an applicant under selection categories as determined by the Canadian government. These categories include:
Family Class, Economic Class and Refugee Class. The prospective immigrant must also meet medical and financial qualifications depending upon various factors.

The following is a list of visa types as they correspond with each immigration category:

Family Class
This includes people who are sponsored to come to Canada by either a relative, spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.

In-Canada Spousal Applications
Appeals to IAD of IRB
  • Sponsorship appeals
  • Appeals from removal orders

Economic Class
  • Skilled Workers - Foreign professionals and workers who may qualify for permanent residence based on their skills and experience in a certain field.
  • Business Immigrants - Individuals who are experienced managers or investors in business. This category includes entrepreneurs, investors and self-employed persons.

Refugees and Persons in Need of Protection
  • Refugees selected Abroad
  • In-Canada Refugee Program
  • Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA)
